Blogger Search Engine Optimization
For a blogger blog, you should do the following in order to draw in the most internet traffic:
1. Look for well searched keyword phrases that are at least 2 or 3 words long. The phrases should be related to your site! As an example, I created a page for a blogger math-help blog that featured a multiplication table, a free one. So I typed in “multiplication” using the free keyword tool and got this result. The top result was printable multiplication tables. Also, the key phrase multiplication times tables was listed so I also used that. And since my tables were free, I added the word free in front and combined the two phrases into one phrase free printable multiplication times tables. Also, I included free multiplication worksheets.

Write posts related to those phrases. Make them good! Include your keyword phrases in your article body, your blogger labels, and your blogger title. Place commas in between labels. Also, include the phrase in link text, especially if the link is going to another site or page you own.Don’t go overboard with the keywords – you should try to keep below 10% of your total word count. So if you had 100 words, no more than 10 should be a single repeated key word. In the post I have over 150 word and the word multiplication is used a total of 5 times, which is about right. In the labels I try not to repeat a word more than once. Too much repetition is considered keyword spamming and can earn you a search engine penalty. See screen shot below.
2. Link to the pages you just created from previous posts or pages and/or future posts and pages. This interlinking can have a very positive effect on your rankings. So in this example if I wrote a future page about different math resources, I would mention this page about free multiplication worksheets and link to it. Even better yet: Link to this page from somewhere outside your site. If you are a respected member of a forum or other web community and such linking is allowed (when appropriate), use this opportunity to link to this page and use your dynamite key phrase in the anchor text of the link.
A note on Pages vs. Posts: Posts allow labels. Pages do not. For this reason, I would recommend writing posts and then linking to them in your menu if you are looking to snag search traffic. For some utility pages on your site like contact information, privacy info, etc. pages are a better choice. Either posts or pages may be included in your top menu – see the guide on how to include pages and posts in your blogger menu.
