Adding Automatic AdSense to Posts or Pages
In searching around for easy ways to add automatic AdSense (or other ads) to single posts and pages, I stumbled upon the greatest plugin I have found yet called Post Layout. With this plugin, you can automatically insert Google Ads into every single post and/or page you create! Here is how to do it:
Step 1 – From your Dashboard, choose Plugins and Add New, as shown below.
Step 2 – Search for the plugin as shown below using the text “post layout”. It is not only easier to install the plugin this way (by searching), but also it is safer as only approved plugins with no malicious code can be found this way.
Step 3 – Click on install as shown below on the two screens that follow. This will make the plugin available to activate.
Step 4 – Click on Activate Plugin, as shown in the next screen.
Step 5 – Now, from your Dashboard, go to the dropdown menu of Settings and click on the item Post Layout, as shown below.

Step 6 – Enter the AdSense (or other ad code) in the windows as shown below. I entered the code in my Single Post (before and after the content), Page (both before and after the content), and Home and tags categories pages (before the content only), as shown below. Note that pages and single posts only show one page/post at a time so you can insert the code both before and after content. Also note that I inserted <p> before the Adsense code and </p> after the Adsense code so as to make it a paragraph and create natural line breaks before and after – otherwise the ad will jam up to your content with no line break.
Important Note: If you are displaying Google Adsense, you need to restrict your posts displayed to 3 (if you have no sidebar ad) or 2 (if you have a Google sidebar ad). Google terms of service only allow a maximum of 3 ads shown per web page. Choose Settings and then “Reading” (as shown here) to change your settings.
The screen shot below shows a blog with a vertical ad running down the side (see vertical ad instructions) and two horizontal ads at the top of each post. The blog has been set up to only show two posts per page.
