Changing Your Theme

The procedure for changing your WordPress Theme is the same for the free WordPress.com blog as it is for the hosted WordPress.org blog.

Step 1 – Log into your blog. Remember that you can always get your login address by using the URL http://yourblogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin. In my case, I use http://mikesfreesampleblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/.

Step 2 – On your dashboard, click on Appearance, as shown below.

Step 3 – Browse through the 78 themes available. When you find one you like, click on Activate, as shown below. Note that you can switch to another theme at any time in case you don’t like this one. Also note that if you choose a theme with a header image, you can create your own custom header if you wish.

Step 4 – Click on View Site as shown below. You have a nice new theme!

You can replace the top horizontal image (the header) with your own custom header. The next tutorial shows you how.
